The re-release of Avatar (which was a box-office success) features three alternative end-credits sequences, each of which is associated with a different showing of the film. They are all clips from The Way of Water. While the segments are brief, they provide a thorough look at the film’s advanced graphics as well as insight into its story and new characters. Neytiri And Sully’s Daughter Shows Her Swimming Prowess

Jake and Neytiri’s Na’vi children are shown swimming with a group of Metkayina members in one of the sequences. The Metkayina can readily navigate underwater for an extended amount of time, whereas the Sully siblings are unable to hold their breath for long.

The Metkayina highlight their difficulties, claiming that the children are not competent divers. The emergence of Kiri, Neytiri, and Jake’s adopted Na’vi daughter is arguably the most important lesson from the scene. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

The Sully children are wondering where Kiri is after their swim with the Metkayina. The figure is then shown exploring the underwater area with considerably greater ease than her siblings and marvelling at the things she encounters. Kiri is a very fascinating character in the film because she is played by Sigourney Weaver, who also played Doctor Grace Augustine in Avatar.

Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) fatally shot the scientist in the film. Jake attempted to save Grace by transporting her body and avatar to the Tree of Souls in order to transfer her consciousness into the Na’vi body.

Her injuries were eventually too serious, and she died. Avatar: The Way of Water footage presented at D23 2022 appeared to imply that Kiri is the daughter of Sigourney Weaver’s Avatar 2 character. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

The girl was apparently seen cuddling a container carrying Grace’s Na’vi avatar before saying, “Hi, ma,” according to /Film. However, Kiri may be Grace resurrected. Before dying, the character revealed to Jake that she was with the Na’vi goddess Eywa, saying, “I’m with her, Jake. She’s real.”

Her final remarks could theoretically allude to Grace reincarnating as Kiri. Given Jake’s obvious link to Eywa, this seems especially probable. Jake requested the deity’s assistance in combat before to the Na’vi’s final struggle against humanity. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

Neytiri told him that Eywa did not take sides, but she was proven incorrect when the deity sent animal reinforcements, allowing the Na’vi to defeat Quaritch (who is also returning for Avatar 2).

Given this, it’s plausible that Eywa, knowing Grace and Jake’s close link, resurrected the scientist through Kiri, after which Jake, understanding of her ties to his former buddy, elected to care for the child. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

Though the video appeared to show Kiri identifying Grace as her mother, the fact that the doctor’s Na’vi body was not obviously pregnant when she died could point to a greater mystery surrounding the girl’s origin.

Lo’ak Forges A Bond With A Tulkun

The second scene centres on Lo’ak, another of Jake and Neytiri’s children. The video portrays Lo’ak being saved by a whale-like being named Payakan, who is part of a race of marine animals known as tulkuns.

The monster converses with and befriends Lo’ak. According to reports, the scenario turns into first-person perspective from Payakan’s point of view. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

The tulkuns are smart animals, possibly as intelligent as the Na’vi, according to Avatar sequel producer Jon Landau (via Empire): “The idea was to create a creature on the scale of Pandora. A tulkun is, like, 300 feet long.

They are a sentient species and as intelligent in their own way as the Na’vi are in theirs.”

A list of rumoured subtitles for the Avatar sequels was leaked online in 2018. The Way of Water, The Seed Bearer, The Tulkun Rider, and The Quest for Eywa were among them. Later, James Cameron revealed that the names were among those considered for the films.

With The Way of Water announced as the title for the first Avatar sequel, it’s possible that one of the subsequent sequels may be titled Tulkun Rider. As a result, the tulkun race may become an important feature of the brand in the future. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

Furthermore, as this image appears to hint, the creatures’ possible future may be linked to the story of Neytiri and Jake’s family after Avatar 2.

Tonowari Confronts Lo’ak About His Friendship With Payakan

Tonowari (Cliff Curtis), the leader of the Metkayina clan, will be introduced in Avatar: The Way of Water. In the third post-credits scene, he interacts with Lo’ak (via Avatar Guy on YouTube).

The scene appears to be set following Lo’ak’s initial encounter with Payakan. It reveals that the little Na’vi formed a bond with the animal, which irritates Tonowari.

The leader informs Lo’ak that Payakan murdered someone and was thus ejected from his pack, despite the fact that tulkuns are not murderers. Tonowari, on the other hand, is probably wrong about Payakan, given his relationship with Lo’ak is important to The Way of Water. “It’s a boy-and-his-dog scenario, but the dog is 98 feet long and weighs 15 tonnes,” James Cameron told Empire (via Avatar Wiki). (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)

During Lo’ak’s quarrel with Tonowari, Jake Sully enters and informs the Na’vi leader that he would handle his son’s predicament. Given Cameron’s depiction of the beast, Payakan’s death is most likely justified.

Lo’ak’s frowned-upon relationship with Payakan appears to be a significant emotional anchor in Avatar 2 and may thus have a role in the film’s bigger narrative.

Avatar: The Way of Water will dramatically enhance the series’ mythos, and as all three of Avatar’s end-credits scenes demonstrated, there is a lot to explore in Pandora’s planet as the franchise unfolds. (Avatar 2 Footage Explained)
