Early on Wednesday, gold prices were constant, with 10 g of the 24 karat precious metal trading at Rs 51,980 and 10 grammes of 22 karat gold at Rs 47,650.
Silver's price fell by Rs 300 on Wednesday, when it traded for Rs 60,000 per kg. In the meanwhile, gold prices in the US were confined to a narrow range on Tuesday
as the possibility of rising interest rates constrained the safe-haven appeal of metal but recession worries increased it.
By 2:09 p.m. ET (1809 GMT), spot gold was down 0.1% at $1,820.31 per ounce and spot silver was down 1.5% at $20.82. US gold futures ended the day down 0.2% at $1,821.2.
According to the website goodreturns, 10 grammes of 24-carat gold are now selling for Rs 51,980 in Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore.
On Wednesday, the prices of 10 grammes of both 24- and 22-carat gold are marginally higher in Chennai, selling at Rs 52,030 and Rs 47,700, respectively.
In places like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, 1 kilogramme of silver costs Rs 60,000, whereas Chennai sells 1 kg of silver for Rs 65,600.
