The franchise had quality overseas players in their ranks, and as such it was expected that Howell would spend majority of the season on the bench. As things went, Benny Howell was not even given one chance to prove a point this season, which really upset the Englishman.

The Kiwi batter was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the auction, in what was surely not their smartest pick. He played just two games in IPL 2022, scoring 33 runs at an average of 16.50.

The final stage of IPL 2022 is upon as, as we reflect on what has been an incredible season so far.

Several players have stood out with their noteworthy performances, while some have failed to take up their chances.

IPL is one of the most competitive sporting leagues in the world and as such, only the best are given the opportunity to represent their respective franchises.

A few well-reputed players have warmed the bench for the majority of the season, which leaves their IPL future in doubt.

5 players who might not play IPL next season, either due to poor form or because of spending a chunk of the season out on the bench.

1. Benny Howell

English all-rounder, Benny Howell was picked up in the auction by Punjab Kings.

The franchise had quality overseas players in their ranks, and as such it was expected that Howell would spend majority of the season on the bench. As things went, Benny Howell was not even given one chance to prove a point this season, which really upset the Englishman.

2. Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell earned himself a reputation of being a reliable top order batter, after his performances in the T20I World Cup last year.

The Kiwi batter was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the auction, in what was surely not their smartest pick. He played just two games in IPL 2022, scoring 33 runs at an average of 16.50.

3. Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch has probably represented every IPL franchise out there.The Australian batter was brought in by Kolkata Knight Riders as replacement for Alex Hales in IPL 2022.

Barring a couple of decent performances, it has been yet another underwhelming season for Aaron Finch. After a few outings with the franchise, he was dropped to the bench towards the end of the season.

4. David Willey

David Willey did feature in the initial few games for RCB, but the English all-rounder hardly got any chances as the season progressed.
